Let me start with the good: The atmosphere and the service staff were very nice. Our waitress was courteous and sweet. But the food was well below average in taste and quality. We had tataki where the fish was just different shades of unappetizing grey inside and out. The agedashi tofu came almost as a soup topped with soggy steamed vegetables instead of the usual katsuobushi flakes. The dashi also lacked any depth and umami. The tempura was soggy and oily, with the vegetables having been cut in chunks that were way too thick. The sushi could barely compete with average supermarket sushi. The quality of the fish was way below average and the sushi rice was simply amateur hour, lacking the right texture, acidity and sweetness. We came in very hungry so we ate it, but this will have been our first and last visit to Sushi & Soul.
